An evening which combines warmth and passion, singing and dancing with superb lighting effects and extracts from all-time favourites such as The King and I, 42nd Street, Swan Lake and Coppelia.

A concert series featuring some of Scotland's top brass bands competing head to head.

This concert series features some of Scotland’s top brass bands competing head to head.  Each band will perform a programme of their choice including an overture, solo item and an arrangement of a piece of music by Elgar. This will be the sixth West Lothian Festival of Brass and it is now firmly established as a highlight in the national brass band calendar.  This contest has been very well received by players and audience alike providing entertainment and musicianship of the highest quality with all the excitement that the competition brings.

This year the Youth Dance Showcase takes place over two nights so that all the groups now dancing across West Lothian have an opportunity to strut their stuff on stage.

This event will showcase the diverse and exciting mix of girls and boys youth dance work including Higher dance, Intermediate 2 level curriculum dance work from Inveralmond Community High School, St Margarets RC Academy and West Calder High School as well as all the Youth Dance Companies from the Regal, Linlithgow, Bathgate and Craigswood Sport Centres.

Baron Frankenstein’s descendant, an ex - pop star turned professor of Genetics, creates DNA moulds of people in his computer. How these moulds come to life as the ultimate Rock Group, headed by a clone of Elvis himself, is the highlight of the hilarious plot.

When icy secret service agent Wiesler sets up a surveillance operation to listen in on them, he starts to lose his usual reserve and become involved in their lives.

Scotland's incredible new funk/rock talent

Two awesome young rock/funk outfits that have been making a name for themselves with gigs around Central Scotland, mixing covers and own material.   Blending influences from classic rock of the 70s and 80s, Failure To Communicate have given the music a modern twist, creating a distinctive
hard-rocking sound.  They’ve clocked up live experience with gigs at venues including Soundhaus, Street Level and Motherwell Civic Centre and recently recorded an EP at the Foundry Music Lab.  Wishaw band The Jackanoorys have played Glasgow’s  Garage and Cathouse as well as community venues around Lanarkshire.  Style influences range from Audioslave to the Velvet Revolver but with an array of original material too.

Take part in West Lothian’s Eid celebrations with a brilliant, feelgood family film featuring Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji.  

Ta Ra Rum Pum is the story of one man, his family and how they overcoem the obstacles that life puts in their way, together.   It has English sub-titles so that it can be enjoyed by all the community of West Lothian.

An Indian snackbox is included in the price of the ticket and there will also be refreshments available before the screening and during the interval.  You will also be able to browse at an Asian clothes stall or have a henna tattoo done.  In addition, information will be on offer from various West Lothian organisations.

The blue uniform of Newland is well recognised in West Lothian as a result of playing at gala days, concerts, musicals, church functions and of course the Bathgate Procession and John Newland Festival. The band welcome players of any age and ability. They have a Beginners group, a Junior Training band and a Senior band. Photos and band memorabilia will be on display. Doors/bar will open at 6.30pm and the concert will begin at 8pm.

Admission to the concert is free - however, we will need to know numbers in advance.

The film begins with two sisters, Raimunda (Penelope Cruz) and Sole (Lola Duenas) along with Raimunda's daughter visiting the grave of their parents who died in each other's arms in a fire. However, their elderly aunt is under the impression that the girls’ dead mother is looking after her. The mother (played by Almodovar regular Carmen Maura) soon appears to Sole. Meanwhile, Raimunda is getting rid of an abusive husband and trying to run a restaurant.

In a film that celebrates the collective strength of women, we can enjoy a top rate cast and think about the differences between urban Spain and country villages where Catholic superstition still affects the lives of women.

After their visit to the Japanese Court last December with a hilarious version of The Mikado , Bathgate Theatre Company moves to the back courts of Glasgow in the 1930s.

Written by Ena Lamont Stewart in 1947, with a cast of nine women, four men and three children, this extraordinarily moving play depicts, through the eyes of the Morrison family, the harrowing effects of The Depression in Scotland.

At the centre is Maggie, the mother of seven children, who holds the family together while coping with unemployment, TB, problem children, nosy neighbours, a censorious sister and a hard to love mother in law.

This is a play without sentimentality but tempered by a spirited sense of humour.

You’ll weep with Maggie in her battle for survival but you’ll laugh with Granny, the weans and the neebors.

Dewi has sung with the Welsh National Opera and London City Opera and both Huw and Adriano are currently with Glyndebourne Touring Opera. Create your own comic book! Age 8+

Artist Lisa Fleming will take you through all the processes that come together to make comic books one of the most popular formats for story telling today.

The illustration techniques take in pencilling, inking, drawing and photography.  The story telling covers everything from story boarding and lettering to the use of thought bubbles.

Will your subject be realistic, retro or fantasy? Lisa will introduce you to all this and much more. By the end of the week you will have created your own comic book using computer software Comic Life.

For ages 8 and over. Please wear old clothes and bring a packed lunch.

Bette Davis plays a Southern Belle, a role she got as a consolation prize for not winning the role of Scarlett O'Hara, but managed to win the 1938 Best Actress Oscar.  Her character Julie breaks all the rules and shocks polite society in an attempt to win the heart of handsome Henry Fonda.  In a film famous for its sets and costumes and a remarkable creation of a yellow fever epidemic, its greatest strength is Bette Davis's performance. Set in antebellum New Orleans during the early 1850's, this film follows Julie Marsden through her quest for social redemption on her own terms. Julie is a beautiful and free spirited, rapacious Southern belle who is sure of herself and controlling of her fiancé Preston Dillard, a successful young banker. Julie's sensitive but domineering personality--she does not want so much to hurt as to assert her independence--forces a wedge between Preston and herself. To win him back, she plays North against South amid a deadly epidemic of yellow fever which claims a surprising victim.

This annual celebration of brass music features six of Scotland’s top brass bands competing head to head.  Each band will perform a programme of their choice including an overture, solo item and a piece by Kenneth Downie.  Now in its 7th year West Lothian Festival of Brass is a highlight in the national brass band calendar.  This contest has been very well received by players and audience alike providing entertainment and musicianship of the highest quality with all the excitement that the competition brings.
