The Weir

Dates: 11-Sep-2010

Time: 07:30 pm

The WeirMull TheatreIn a small bar in rural Ireland, four men vie for the attention of Valerie, a pretty young woman from Dublin who has just rented an old house in the area. After a few drinks, they tell stories of spooky local folklore. But Valerie’s tale, of why she left Dublin, is melancholy and true – and far more shocking than anything made up... One of the most praised and successful plays of the last 15 years, Conor McPherson’s The Weir uncovers moving themes of loss, abandonment, loneliness and regret for the road not taken.             “A spellbinder that transfixes you… no praise in fact is too high…” Guardian“My play of the decade...a modern masterpiece...” Daily Express

Time: 07:30 pm

One actress, three characters, oh..and the woman from the council! Ever felt mad enough to kill someone? Carer Joyce doesn't give in to these feelings, even when provoked by irritating old bats like Bella! Client Rita doesn't, she hasn't a bad bone in her body. Bella...DOES...but surely a frail old lady doesn't have it in her to be a killer, or does she? Just don't dig up her shrubbery!

After last year’s run-away success with the really daft Pirates of Penzance, Bathgate Theatre Company brings you a modern farce to cheer up those dreary November nights. Anita and Clive have been married for 28 years, but it is a loveless marriage and Clive is bored. Life is passing him by and he has a yearning for a final fling. He decides to answer three adverts in the “Lonely Hearts“ column of the local newspaper and from that point on, things become a little bit complicated to say the least!
